What is Diabetes?

With approximately 7 million new cases developed each year, diabetes is quickly becoming one of the most prevalent diseases in the world. Diabetes is classified as a metabolic disease – it affects the maintenance of energy within the body. Caused by the inability to create enough insulin, diabetes results in the failure of cells to ingest natural sugars. Glucose must remain in the bloodstream of people with diabetes – they cannot extract its nutritional value. They do not receive sufficient energy, and must depend on injections of insulin to survive.

The immediate symptoms of diabetes include:

Long term diabetes can result in:
